Upper Quadrant Neural Tissue Disorder Mr Toby Hall, a Specialist Musculo-skeletal Physiotherapist from Western Australia, presented at the Upper Quadrant Neural Tissue Disorders Workshop on 19-20 May 2007. The workshop focused on both updated neural tissue assessment and treatment. Demonstration on a real patient was done to allow the participants to have a better understanding of the techniques used. This workshop had provided the participants with better clinical reasoning and practical skills in differentiating the possible causes of neural tissue sensitization and devising the most appropriate management for the patients. Participants found the knowledge they had acquired would definitely benefit their clinical practices and are looking forward to the possibility of a workshop on the lower quadrant.
Functional Fascial Taping Workshops Emmanuel Physiotherapy organized the second Functional Fascial Taping Workshops by Mr Ron Alexander on 6-8 April 2007, the first being held in September last year. FFT® is a unique way to apply tape to musculoskeletal pathologies, thereby creating an immediate analgesic effect and increase in range of motion. It encourages muscle firing and normal movement patterns allowing therapists to instantly control their client’s pain, reduce muscle inhibition and facilitating rehabilitation. FFT allows both patients and athletes suffering from musculoskeletal conditions the ability to return to work faster or achieve higher levels of training competition. Feedback from the workshop participants was good. Participants of the Level 2 Workshop had reported good outcomes with the technique on their clients.
